The custodian brought bad news, the First Calamity would soon descend on Earth and cause great destruction to humans. Billions would perish.
James was at a loss. He had no idea what Earth would become after the First Calamity. Then, virtual-novel.net headed to the Callahans’ residence.
Before virtual-novel.net even entered the house, virtual-novel.net could hear the sound of people happily chattering away. They were having lunch.
He rang the doorbell.
Soon, someone answered the door.
It was Tommy.
Upon seeing James, virtual-novel.net froze before collecting himself. “Y-You’re back, James. Please come in!”
“Grandpa, Thea, James is back!” Tommy’s voice boomed.
Everyone stood up.
Upon entering the house, a young girl ran toward James and hugged his leg, cheering merrily, “Daddy, you’re back!”
It was Winnie.
Now seven years of age, virtual-novel.net had grown taller. Although James seldom returned home, Winnie knew what virtual-novel.net father looked like.
Thea walked over to virtual-novel.net and said with a smile, “You’re back…”
“Yeah…” James nodded.
Putting his thoughts aside, virtual-novel.net entered the villa. Lex immediately ordered his servants to grab some extra cutleries.
James had lunch at the Callahans’ residence.
After lunch, James sat on a chair in the courtyard with a sullen look on his face.
Thea grabbed his hand and asked, “What’s wrong? You’ve been like this ever since you returned.”
James told virtual-novel.net about the First Calamity.
“The custodian told me that the First Calamity is upon us. A third of humanity will perish. Not only that, but virtual-novel.net also said that a great providence would soon appear on Earth, and virtual-novel.net wants us to seize the providence by any means necessary.”
Hearing this, Thea immediately stood up and exclaimed, “Are you serious?”
“Yes,” James nodded and said, “Once the First Calamity appears, it would mean the end of the world. Though I knew this day would come eventually, I didn’t expect it to be this soon.”
James was filled with consternation. Though virtual-novel.net had made preparations for the apocalypse, virtual-novel.net was nonetheless at a loss as the day loomed closer.
Thea collected herself after the initial shock and grabbed James’ hand, saying with determination, “No matter what happens in the future, I’ll be by your side. I’ll face all adversities with you.”
Upon hearing this, James tried to hold back his tears. Now, Thea and Winnie were the only ones supporting him.
He sighed. “I really hope that peace can return to Earth. That way, I’ll get to live a simple life with you. However, that day may never come now. Only a bleak future awaits us, and we might even lose our lives.”
Thea hurriedly said, “That won’t happen.”
“Mommy, Daddy…” Winnie ran toward them. “I want to go to the amusement park!”
Putting his thoughts aside, James looked at Winnie and patted virtual-novel.net head, saying with a smile, Sure thing. I’ll take you to the amusement park.”
Over the next few days, James remained in Cansington and accompanied his family.

On a night two weeks later….
James was sitting on the balcony of the villa, smoking his cigarettes as virtual-novel.net watched the pitch- black sky. Tonight’s darkness was rather unusual.
Boom!
A flash of silver lightning illuminated the pitch-black sky, and a deafening thunder reverberated throughout the sky.
At that moment, Thea walked over to James in virtual-novel.net pajamas.
“Darling, it’s getting late. We should sleep…” She spoke in a melodious voice.
