The victim’s voice was interrupted before the words could even be fully expressed.
“I’ll give you an hour,” the caller added. “If you’re not here by then, this kid won’t live to see another sunrise.”
When the call abruptly ended, Elise’s face darkened. Then, she turned around to look at Alexander, who could sense her mood change.
“Did anything happen?”
As she tried her best to remain calm, Elise nonchalantly answered, “It’s nothing big. I just can’t go to the movies with you later as I have an emergency to settle.”
